It is a salivary test useful for monitoring hormonal responses to stress. It is indicated in the anti-aging field, before recommending hormonal supplementation, as a control in apparently healthy subjects. The test is performed at two times a day: upon waking up (6–8 am) and in the afternoon (3–4 pm).
- Salivary cortisol I – 6–8 am
- Salivary cortisol II – 3–4 pm
It is possible to make up to 4 or 5 withdrawals during the day.
Cortisol I production in the morning represents the maximum daily peak, while the second sample after 3pm allows us to evaluate a further peak. The test is useful to check the activation or exhaustion status of the adrenal glands, in athletes and sportsmen in general, in cases of overtraining and in adrenal stimulation therapies (ACTH-like).
After purchasing the test, a saliva collection kit will be sent to your home, simple to use, which will then need to be sent back to the laboratory for analysis.
The result will be sent directly to your email inbox.
